When I win, I’ll be walkin' in that parade for all the Texas parents of trans kids who have endured so much for so long. Please share, and THANK YOU! Please vote for me! Mandy...

March 31st is Trans Day of Visibility; be on the lookout for celebrations and acknowledgments all over the place. It's a special day to celebrate trans lives and elevate their voices. BUT many trans folks don’t want to be visible, perceived, or scrutinized. So … thanks to Tuck Woodstock of the Gender Reveal podcast, March 31 is also Trans Day of Having a Nice Snack! Last year, I celebrated Trans Day of Snack with a post on social media setting up a little mutual aid. Reader, my phone was...

This week, I gave a presentation to PFLAG Manhattan Beach/South Bay; they wanted to hear all about what's new at Parents of Trans Youth and "how I'm still standing in these unprecedented times." At the top of my list is intentional joy. For me, laughter and silliness are crucial, and I try not to take myself too seriously. Halloween 2025 When watch TV, I choose funny shows to balance out the dystopian shows I watch with my husband. I'm currently enjoying Broad City 👇 We laugh a lot in the...

Reader, everyone needs support at one time or another, especially if you're parenting transgender kiddos. Several organizations that I trust offer online support groups for parents and caregivers: Campaign for Southern Equality (Trans Youth Emergency Project) Hosted by mothasistah™ and YOURS TRULY, this is a monthly space for parents and caregivers of trans youth to gather in community, especially those who are navigating accessing gender-affirming care for their kids right now. Next group is...

This weekend, I jumped on the "This is who" trend on social media. Businesses have been posting childhood photos of themselves and/or their team members, captioned with "This is who [does a specific job task]". The trend is supposed to humanize brands and create a personal connection with their audiences. Looking back at these pictures made me think that I had NO idea I'd be doing what I am today, even as recently as a few years ago. I had no clue what being transgender meant when my first...

A few weeks ago, I had surgery for a back issue, and the recovery has been a bit rougher than I anticipated. In addition to feeling significant soreness and fatigue, I was not allowed to raise my arms above my shoulders or bend, lift, or twist for 30 days. Yesterday finally marked 30 days since the surgery, and I celebrated by doing exciting things like bending over to tie my shoes, leaning over to put my breakfast dishes in the dishwasher, and reaching for office supplies on a high shelf. I...

Reader, I know the info below won't apply to everyone. If you're not a parent of a trans kiddo, no worries. But you might know someone who is. Please consider forwarding this email their way. I want as many parents as possible to know this important resource exists. TIA! Come be with people who just GET IT.
