Who needs a chat? 🗣️

Reader, did you know that anyone can schedule a quick chat with me?

I talk to parents of trans kids and young adults all the time about all sorts of things!

Maybe their kid came out to them recently, and they’re struggling.

Maybe they're wavin’ the trans flag for their kid but have a specific question.

Maybe they just want to talk to someone they won’t run into at the grocery store!

And maybe they've never met another parent of a trans kid and just need to know they’re not alone.

Once a parent or caregiver schedules a call, we’ll talk on Zoom for about 20 minutes, and if there’s a way for Parents of Trans Youth to help them, I’ll share that.

But sometimes another organization or resource can help them better, and I’ll point them in that direction.

You might not be the caregiver of a trans kid, but I bet you know someone who is. If they need to talk to another parent who just gets it, let them know about Parents of Trans Youth and forward this email.

They just have to click the button below to schedule a quick call with me.

And if you're not a parent but want to connect, just reply to this email and I'll get you set up!

So your transgender, non-binary, or gender-diverse kid has a new name. Hooray! But how should you refer to them before they transitioned (or started using a new name and pronouns)? The general practice is to use the new name all the time, for everything. For example, you might remember a family gathering before your child transitioned. You'd say, "Oh, remember when [new name] burped the whole alphabet? [New pronoun] had us all crying with laughter." It might feel unfamiliar and a little...

First, an apology. I normally send short and sweet emails on Tuesdays and Fridays, and I realized yesterday that I missed the last 2 email days. I'm sure you were just twisted up with anxiety, Reader, wondering why you hadn't heard from me. Here's who's been distracting me lately: Meet Cooper! Cooper is our Golden Retriever puppy who is now 14 weeks old. He's a love bug but also a menace. I work from home, so my work hours have been basically cut in half chasing after this jellybean. So if I...
