Hopeful research and celebratory art

I've got some good news for you, Reader! (for once 😑)

A recent study found that "in a large cohort of transgender adolescents seeking GAH [gender-affirming hormones], persistent discontinuation of hormones was rare and primarily reflected having accomplished gender expression goals or difficulties accessing or taking hormones – rather than individuals reaffirming a gender identity associated with their assigned sex at birth."

The actual discontinuation of GAH is rare for transgender youth, and less than 1 percent is associated with detransition (re-identified with the gender associated with their sex assigned at birth). WOW!

A fantastic example of art as resistance was installed this weekend at the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

The Freedom To Be Monument, organized by the ACLU, includes 258 quilt panels crafted by more than 200 trans artists, families, and allies from across the United States.

I told her that an ally is someone from a non-marginalized group who uses their privilege to advocate for a marginalized group. They transfer the benefits of their privilege to those who lack it. She said, Oh, I’m an ally!” and gave an example of helping people in a different...
