Protect yourself online 🛜

I talk to a ton of parents of trans kids who say they don't know who they can trust.

It's hard to know who's just kinda pissy ...

and who's out to harass you.

Like, do you know how easy it is to find your home address online? Spoiler alert: REALLY EASY. Not good.

When I got an anonymous, threatening letter at my house a couple of years ago, I wondered how on earth this person had found my home address. Then I Googled myself and found my address and other information on a bunch of those weirdo people search sites.

I really don't want that to happen to you, Reader.

Here's the solution: DeleteMe.

It's an opt-out service to remove your personal information from data brokers. Details like your name, address, age, phone number, email address, and photos of your home are flushed and disappear from Google search results (but your business info stays out there).

I’ve got a DeleteMe 20% discount code for you. Click the button below to sign up with the discount.

This is an affiliate link and Parents of Trans Youth gets a little bonus at NO cost to you. Zero. Zilch. Nada.

Parents of Trans Youth is hosting KB Brookins for a conversation about their memoir Pretty on September 29, and I want you there, Reader. KB will read from their memoir, I'll do a little fireside chat with them, then you'll have a chance to ask KB questions. “This book blew me away. Seamlessly transitioning between poetry and prose, Pretty is as fearless, incisive, and brilliant as they come. It’s a gorgeous memoir that, despite pain and rejection, insists on hope, forgiveness, and Black...

Texas Democratic gubernatorial candidate Gina Hinojosa messed up. About a week ago, she released a campaign ad that ends with a riff on an old anti-trans joke, saying her pronouns are, "Mom, Texan, and soon to be: Governor." It was meant to be a clap back at her opponent, Governor Greg Abbott, for calling her "Gender Bender Gina" and other insults related to her "liberal agenda." But using the same framework as a transphobic pronoun joke isn't funny or clever. It's a dog whistle for jackasses...

Grief is a tough topic for lots of parents of trans kids (possibly you). They might even think or say things like “I feel like I’ve lost my son [or daughter].” And that feeling of loss is REAL. It’s important to remember that you’re grieving the loss of your expectations for your child, not the loss of your child. Your kid is still the same kid! It’s normal and necessary to give yourself the space and grace to grieve those expectations, but it’s important to do that grieving, questioning, and...
