New year, new friends

Reader, I talk to so many parents of trans kids who crave being in a space where you don’t have to explain everything about your kid.

Where folks understand what you’re going through and what your kid is going through.

And that’s other parents and caregivers of trans kids. They just get it.

But those spaces can be really hard to find. It's hard to know who to trust.

So we’ve made it easy for you!

The Parents of Trans Youth Community (PTYC) is a secure, online space for parents/caregivers who affirm and support their trans youth and young adults.

Our members are finding real, authentic connections with other parents through monthly support groups, topic discussions with outside experts, 24/7 access to chat spaces, and resource sharing.

Some recent comments from happy members:

"A much needed respite in a very volatile and uncertain world."

"Thank you, PTYC, for being a guiding light when things get a little foggy!"

"There isn't a more welcoming, active and truly supportive group than PTYC. This should be your first step in supporting your child."

"I was looking for a space with like minded families when I found PTYC. So thankful to have found supportive parents and caregivers who share thoughts and ideas."

This month’s application window is January 1 - 7, and scholarships are available to anyone who asks.

And hey - if PTYC isn't a fit for you, please pass this info on to someone who could use the comfort of community.

This weekend, I jumped on the "This is who" trend on social media. Businesses have been posting childhood photos of themselves and/or their team members, captioned with "This is who [does a specific job task]". The trend is supposed to humanize brands and create a personal connection with their audiences. Looking back at these pictures made me think that I had NO idea I'd be doing what I am today, even as recently as a few years ago. I had no clue what being transgender meant when my first...

A few weeks ago, I had surgery for a back issue, and the recovery has been a bit rougher than I anticipated. In addition to feeling significant soreness and fatigue, I was not allowed to raise my arms above my shoulders or bend, lift, or twist for 30 days.
