Jumpstart Your Voice Transition!

Parents of Trans Youth + Undead Voice: Jumpstart Your Voice Transition

Parents of Trans Youth is partnering with Undead Voice to bring you a transformative three-week masterclass series designed for trans and gender-diverse folks looking to start or refine their voice transition journey.

AND the good folks at Undead Voice are offering a free youth-only cohort (along with 2 free adult cohorts), because they know that trans youth need our help now more than ever!

Through a series of weekly live masterclasses, your child (or you, if you're taking the adult course) will learn essential voice transition skills and strategies to start falling in love with their voice!

This course is FREE. Can’t attend live? Your child (or you) have access to the recordings to watch at any time, as well as access to a special community space for the course.

Undead Voice is hosting Jumpstart Your Voice Transition in August and October. Space is limited, and they expect the course to fill up, so sign up now!

Here’s what you can expect from this course:

Week 1: Healthy Foundation + Goal Setting
Learn how to warm up, protect your voice, and break through the mental roadblocks of voice dysphoria. Set clear goals and determine the level of support you need for your journey.

Week 2: 5 Pillars of Voice
Explore Vocal Weight, Vocal Tilt, Resonance, Pitch, and Dynamics. Get hands-on with exercises for each and build a custom practice plan to guide your progress.

Week 3: Voice Coaching Q+A and Next Steps
Bring your questions! Get live coaching and feedback, plus a full tour of Undead Voice Lab and help crafting your next steps.

Note: I met with the founder of Undead Voice, Nicole Gress, and she knows that privacy and safety are especially important when it comes to supporting trans and gender-diverse youth. Here’s how they're protecting participants’ confidentiality during the August youth cohort of Jumpstart Your Voice Transition:

  • Session recordings are for internal auditing only.
  • Youth can choose to be on or off camera.
  • No identifying information is shared. Ever.
  • Participants receive rewatchable lesson videos — not session replays.
  • Youth will use a private, youth-only community space.

If you have additional questions about their privacy practices or the course, they’re happy to connect with you directly at contact@undeadvoice.com.

I saw the movie “She’s The He” this week, and when it was over, I immediately wanted to see it again. It’s a teen satire about two seniors who pretend to be transgender during their last week of high school (a crush on a girl is involved). Hijinks ensue. AND one of them finds out that she actually is trans. The friend I saw it with is also the parent of a trans young adult, and we laughed til we cried, probably because we’re Gen X and appreciated this 80s- and 90s-style teen romp. But also,...

It’s paperback launch day for author and activist Raquel Willis’s memoir, The Risk It Takes to Bloom: On Life and Liberation! Parents of Trans Youth is hosting Raquel for a live conversation about the book on June 30 at 8pm EDT, and I want you there, Reader. “ Structured in seasons — rooting, budding, pruning, and blooming — this memoir is not a story of linear triumph, but of ongoing transformation. With lyrical precision and moral clarity, Willis examines what liberation truly demands: not...

Content warning: violence against transgender women . . . This week, I attended a vigil for Persia Amarra Conway, a transgender woman who was murdered last week in Houston. She is the second transgender woman to be murdered this year in Houston; the first woman’s name is Jade Roberts. I am devastated, angry, and heartbroken - not only from thinking about my transgender friends, but also thinking about my transgender children, and how Persia’s family was treated so horribly by the Houston...
