Fill your cup

Last week, I took a quick trip to Austin to see my kids and some friends, and my cup was full.

I hadn't seen Mars and Indigo in a good while, and it was so fun to hear about their latest adventures and work dramas.

I also threw together a last-minute gathering of friends; I told a handful of Austin folks that I'd be at an ice cream shop (Amy's - the best!) on Sunday night and I'd love to see them.

Old and new friends showed up, and Reader, I haven't laughed that hard in a long time!

You know when a group is really vibing, and you have a running comedy bit throughout the whole gathering? And there's no way to explain that inside joke to anyone else because it was special to those 2 hours? That was pretty much our Sunday night.

I have a habit of working too much; it's really hard for me to shut it off, but I'm working on it.

And this trip was a step in the right direction to be intentional about filling my cup with family, friends, and laughter.

My husband and I love entertaining, and we've fallen out of the habit. Once we get some major repairs done on our house (we cannot subject friends to a broken AC in Houston 🥵), we'll start having people over again.

I'm really looking forward to intentional time with friends. Being with community is an important ingredient in my cup.

How are you filling your cup these days?

Support from parents and caregivers is crucial for the well-being of transgender and nonbinary youth, providing a solid foundation for their development and health (Trevor Project, 2024). Research by the Family Acceptance Project found that families who support their children's identities "help promote self-esteem, overall health, stronger relationships and help to protect against suicidal behavior, depression and substance abuse." This is why Parents of Trans Youth exists! We know that the...

I get lots of nasty comments on my social media content, but sometimes they honestly make me think. First of all - RUDE, Norma! Second, this comment actually has a couple of very interesting layers. At one time, I also used the word "weird" for something that I felt pushed the boundaries of what I thought was appropriate or the norm. And that was my judgement of other people and behaviors. But having trans children, learning more about the LGBTQ+ and transgender communities, and becoming...
